Alfredo sauce

This alfredo sauce is a cheesy, creamy way to elevate any pasta dish. Lovely on its own or easy to layer with the flavors of your protein choice. It’s a classic sauce and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 2⁄3 cups skim milk
  • ¼ cup reduced-fat cream cheese
  • 1 cup shredded fresh Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper

Directions

  1. Heat a medium sauté pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the olive oil and garlic to the pan and sauté 1 minute.
  3. Whisk in the flour and lower the heat to medium; cook 3-4 minutes.
  4. Gradually add the milk, stirring until well blended.
  5. Cook until the mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
  6. Stir in the cream cheese and cook until it melts, continuing to stir constantly.
  7. Turn off the heat and slowly add the Parmesan cheese and pepper.
  8. Stir until the cheese is melted into the mixture.

When serving Alfredo sauce with noodles, toss the noodles in the sauce to coat evenly. To enjoy the best flavor, serve immediately.
